Eggs are retrieved and the surrounding cumulus is removed. A semen sample from the male partner is collected. Good quality sperms are selected under a high-magnification microscope by an experienced embryologist. One sperm is injected into each egg and placed in an incubator. These incubators mimic natural body conditions and we wait for the embryos to develop for 3 days or 5 days. We place these embryos back into the mother’s womb in the same cycle (fresh embryo transfer) or at a later date after freezing the embryos (frozen embryo transfer).
