Low sperm motility
Asthenozoopermia is a condition in which males have low sperm motility. Even if the sperm numbers are normal, percentage of sperms with normal motility will be reduced and this can have an effect on the fertility potential of a male
Reasons of low sperm motility
Causes for reduced sperm motility can be : genetic abnormalities, infections, hormonal imbalances, lifestyle factors (smoking, drug abuse, drinking alchohol etc), varicocoele, exposure to environmental toxins (pesticides, pollutants etc)
How do we diagnose low sperm motility:
We can diagnose asthenozoospermia by a semen analysis which examines the quality and quantity of the sperms
Impact of low sperm motility:
Asthenospermia can cause infertility which can have an emotional and pschological effect on the couple.
